CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — Caldwell residents are asked to take extra precautions when drinking tap water. On Monday, city crews closed water valves as part of a scheduled outage. Additional valves were unexpectedly found to be closed so the planned valve closures led to a loss of water pressure in the mainline. A mainline pressure drop has the potential to create unsafe drinking water conditions and can pose the risk of drawing in bacteria or contamination from household water supply plumbing or other connected water system elements through backflow.
